Remembrancetide 2023 – Arrangements

Bratton has prepared our War Memorial ready for Remembrancetide.

Particular thanks are due to the Women’s Institute for the fabulous display of knitted poppies, and to all those who have kept the memorial so tidy.

 

The following Acts of Remembrance are being held…

Armistice Day – Saturday 11th November.

Please be in position at the War Memorial by 1050 hours.  The road will not be closed so please take care when moving around in the area.

Remembrance Sunday – Sunday 12th November

0930 hours – St James’ Church Service of Remembrance for The Royal British Legion, accompanied by the renowned Bratton Silver Band.

1040 – RBL Members and Veterans assemble in Tyning Lane outside the Church Institute.

1050 – Please be in position at the War Memorial (programmes will be handed out).  As usual we are expecting a large crowd.

1125 (Approx) – Move to Bratton Baptist Church for refreshments.  Note that there will be a short wreath laying near the entrance to the Church at the grave of Charles and Eliza Watts, the parents of Pte Reginald Watts of the Cambridgeshire Regiment who died as a POW of the Japanese and is buried in Chungkai Military Cemetery, Thailand.  Reginald Watts is commemorated on the War Memorial and on a plaque in the Baptist Church.
