The Selous Scouts, formed from the ranks of the Rhodesian SAS, the Rhodesian Light Infantry, and the Rhodesian African Rifles, specialized in infiltrating enemy forces within and beyond Rhodesia’s borders. These dangerous and daring pseudo-operations involved capturing and ‘turning’ terrorists into allies – a feat requiring unmatched innovation, imagination, and sheer nerve.
The Rhodesian Air Force played a pivotal role, supporting the Scouts with low-level parachute drops, rapid-response “fire force” missions, and other ingenious aerial tactics. Hear Graham Preuveneers, a former communications operator in the Rhodesian Air Force, recount his firsthand experiences of these operations.

About the Speakers:
- David Scales: An ex-special forces operator, David served over 20 years in the Rhodesian SAS, Selous Scouts, and South African special forces. Now based near Warminster, he is a sought-after guest speaker, sharing vivid accounts of special forces operations from the Rhodesian and South African wars.
- Graham Preuveneers: A longtime resident of Bratton, Graham served as a communications operator in the Rhodesian Air Force during combat. In 2022, he delivered a highly acclaimed Poppy Talk about his experiences and returns to share more extraordinary insights.
