The North Wessex Way is an ancient road running between Oxford and Bristol that dates to a time before the Iron Age. It’s a story of kings, wars, diplomacy, religious power, monks, industry and buried treasure. In this talk, David Mitchell brings the road back to life, and explains how it was forgotten in the 19th century thanks to two dodgy Members of Parliament. Get ready for a romp through three thousand years of history!
David Mitchell is an ‘accidental’ historian. His love of old maps led him to discover a route that everyone had forgotten and this discovery started him on a journey of investigation and storytelling. In his day job, David can be found running a brand consultancy and working with Formula 1 Teams.
