Bratton Parish Allotments

The Council is the owner of two allotment sites in the Village.

Site 1 – Milditch Allotments

This is the land above the Orchard that was gifted to the Council (along with the Orchard) by Marjorie Reeves in 1989. The land had previously been occupied with greenhouses for more than sixty years. The Council at the time appears to have decided that the allotments should be created.  At the present time 6 of the 7 allotments are occupied by 4 allotment tenants with two of the tenants occupying two each.  The seventh site has not been occupied for a number of years.

Site 2 – Pear Tree Orchard allotments

These 12 were established in the 1990s on part of the land purchased by the Council in November 1980 from the Ministry of Defence.  It was known then as Gales Ground   Subsequently a part of the site, in 1990, was sold off to the Guinness Housing Trust and Pear tree Orchard was developed.  9 of the current allotments are occupied by 8 tenants, one of whom occupies two plots.  One plot (plot 4) is significantly smaller than the other 11.
